She is a filmmaker, producer, and director who creates indecent film including historical work, documentaries, and shows seen on Netflix. 

What are 3 takeaways you have from the podcast?  Explain in detail.  

I’m very interested in how she not only makes impacts from a filmmaker point of view but she is an activist for black women and color on screen. In her youth, she enjoyed watching movies with her Aunt but saw many flaws in the lack of color that she was seeing on film. She went to UCLA and majored in African American Studies for English. She did not know she was going to be a filmmaker, and as a child she dreamed of becoming a lawyer when she grew up. She grew up around artists and became fond of self expression through art. Later in life, she won the award for being the best director at the Sundance Film Festival. Not only has she made a difference as a director, her impact as an activist in the film industry has changed it for good.
