2 Week Plan (Nov 29 - Dec 10)

2 WEEK PLAN

*GOAL ONE

Over the next two weeks I created a series of goals providing me with growth from the foundation I created in the past weeks taking this course. To start, I wanted to work on professional work for my website. I did this by meeting with my friend and talking to her about ideas on artistic themes we would like to be inspired by for a shoot. We decided to walk around town after sunset and find cool places to shoot in town. It felt like the town was all ours. We walked around until we found this best places. Working with artistic goals/themes are very exciting to work through because they seem to challenge my creativity.

*GOAL TWO

Although creating shoots for my portfolio is more fun to actively achieve for my two week plan, I also decided to sit down and write emails to my favorite photographers. I asked them what it was like working in the industry, how they got started, and where they find inspiration. After writing my first email (to Chrome Hearts), I checked my email and found a response from them. They connected me to another email, I emailed that one about the same few questions, and now I'm waiting for a response. This was a very good way to be productive during my two week plan because I got excited about the responses I would receive- and this led me to writing more. I wrote five emails reaching out to my favorite photographers, whether they were doing it for a small business or a brand name.

*GOAL THREE

My goal three was to step out of my boundaries as a photographer, and try something new that wasn't a portrait or selected shoot. At first, I was ready to shoot objects but I didn't quite know where to start. That's when my friend reached out to me and asked me to film his college audition video. I thought of this as a good way to achieve my third goal, because I didn't understand how to film one or edit it.

I knew I had to get it done professionally, so I grabbed my canon and put it on film mode. He created a script and shared ideas with me about each frame. We collaborated on the ideas and began filming. After curating each frame from the ideas on paper, we started the filming process at his house. From his garage to my basement, we got the number of shots we needed. After filming and developing the shots on my computer, I edited a short video for him and he submitted it to colleges.

5.2 SUMMARY

My goals this week helped me challenge myself artistically. I enjoyed making new artwork and also expanding my boundaries with my creativity, like in goals one and three.  As for goal two, I learned how to reach out and connect to the world in a bigger aspect. It was very interesting hearing a response so quickly, and it got me excited to curate more emails in the future. I would like to continue learning more about writing emails in that format and how to get myself connections for the future.
